what is onehitwonderday?

February 29, 2008 is onehitwonderday. On this day we hope to ignite a worldwide network of grassroots events, where ordinary people gather right across our glorious planet to share in the wonder. Being a leap year, this day appears only once every four years, so we thought it a fitting day to celebrate the wonder.

how can you participate?

Host your own event in your backyard, at work, school, the local pub, or wherever it suits you. It’s simple!

  • download your onehitwonder party pack here
  • register your event using the form to the right and let us know what you’re planning
  • choose a venue and set up a computer
  • invite your friends and encourage them to hit one dollar
  • chill out and celebrate the wonder
  • let us know what you’ve done by email and sending us your pics and video clips
  • invite the local media to cover your event (radio, tv, newspapers, anyone else you can think of)

schools

Make sure you get permission from your teachers to organise your school onehitwonderday. Come to school out-of-uniform and bring a dollar to hit onehitwonder. Students, you can either hit one dollar yourself through PayPal where you can use your PayPal account OR credit card, OR you can give one dollar to the school office whom you can request, make a bulk donation on behalf of you and your friends through the payment button on the Schools page.

ideas for your party

  • karaoke your way through the night with a list of well-known onehitwonders
  • dress up as your favorite onehitwonder (an actor, sports-person, singer, actor, sporting team)
  • request radio stations to play a onehitwonder countdown at the time of your event
  • school bands could play onehitwonder songs during lunch or between classes
  • you could broadcast onehitwonder tunes via the PA throughout the day
  • compile a playlist of your favourite onehitwonder tunes for your party
